Falowiec

With Falowiec, Julita Wójcik transforms one of the best-known housing models of socialist postwar modernism into a fragile, handcrafted object. The work refers to the eponymous housing block in Gdańsk, designed by Janusz Morek, Danuta Olędzka, and Tadeusz Różański and built between 1970 and 1973. Stretching more than 800 meters, the building embodied the technocratic vision of state-organized housing: standardized, serial, and designed to supply a growing urban population.
