Symposium “Teaching sustainability”

11-12 October 2016

MARILYNE ANDERSEN, EPFL Lausanne
ANNE BEIM, KADK Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts
MICHAEL BEN-ELI, Global Sustainability Laboratory
MARIO CUCINELLA, SOS School of sustainability - Bologna

An exchange of different players in the field of teaching sustainable architecture and design: "how can we teach a field - which seems to be more an attitude than a science?”

As a response to the rising challenges and demands on creating sustainable architecture and ways to develop our existing buildings, urban fabrics and infrastructures towards a more sustainable future - all around the globe architectural faculties have created chairs for sustainable design and architecture. These 'sustainability professors' are developing teaching programs and try to define a vast, open and relatively undefined field. The AAM with its newly established professorship of sustainable design of Prof. Muck Petzet wants to initiate an exchange of thoughts and concepts in ’teaching sustainability’. In this discussion we want to include schools, institutions and teachers with a long tradition in teaching energy conscious architecture and newly established professors - also from adjoining fields. In two days of lectures, talks and discussions we want to learn from each other and discuss different approaches and attitudes with guests from around the globe.

organised by: chair of sustainable design, Accademia di architettura di Mendrisio Prof. Muck Petzet with Giulio Rigoni, Andrea Roscetti and Stefano Baggiolini with the support of: Renggli AG, visione legno
