Sonya Clark, in collaboration with The Fabric Workshop and Museum, Philadelphia, Reversals, March 30, 2019. Using a dish towel printed with a Confederate battle flag motif, the artist, Sonya Clark, cleans the exhibition floor of the Fabric Workshop and Museum in Philadelphia of dust collected from various historical sites in Philadel - phia that reflect the US history of racism and Civil War. This performance reveals an inscription on the gallery’s floor, taken from the preamble to the Declaration of Independence. Clark wears a reproduction of the dress worn by Ella Watson, who worked for decades as a housekeeper for the US Administration in Washington, in Washington, D.C.
