After addressing the transformation of existing spatial resources on a local level in the VerhandelBar project—using the Munich Center for Criminal Courts, which is under threat of demolition, as a case study—ARCH+ is now expanding the discourse across Europe in collaboration with the Allianz Foundation: Tomorrow Is Already Built: Renegotiating the Future of Our Urban Space.
Together with the European Citizens’ Initiative HouseEurope!, the Brussels-based architecture center CIVA, the Munich initiative JustizzentrumErhalten / AbbrechenAbbrechen, and the Munich theater PATHOS, ARCH+ will facilitate a discursive and performative negotiation process.
The concept of "negotiation" extends beyond the Center for Criminal Courts itself, highlighting that the speculative and environmentally harmful treatment of our built environment is a public issue—one that must be actively debated and renegotiated.
