Scientific environment
The professorships belong to the TUM Department of Architecture. The Department’s vision is to successfully combine design practice with research. It is well-connected with the engineering disciplines. The aim is to integrate design methods into technology development and to promote a new Integrative Research Center in this field at TUM.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities include research and teaching as well as the promotion of early-career scientists. TUM seeks to appoint experts in the areas of building construction and timber construction. The teaching load includes courses in the university’s bachelor’s and master’s programs. The professorships teach theoretical basics, methodical and subject-specific knowledge in their respective fields. They address design research as well as applied research. Transfer services into professional practice and a high time presence at the Munich location are expected.
Qualifications
TUM is looking for candidates with advanced scientific experience, proven by achievements in research and teaching at the highest international standards, according to the relevant career level. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific/artistic qualification as well as pedagogical aptitude, including the ability to teach in English, are also prerequisites. Substantial research experience abroad is expected. The professorships are open to architects with professional experience. The proven ability to gain and to lead cooperative research projects and to attract third party funding is a prerequisite.
