DesignBuild-Studio: New Ways in Architectural Education

International Symposium for Cross-Cultural, Practice-Oriented Projects in Teaching and Research from Nov 29th to Dec 1st 2012 at Technische Universität Berlin, Germany.

This symposium proposes to gather for the first time key organisers and participants of outstanding DesignBuild projects undertaken by different universities from Europe, Arab countries, Latin America, Asia, Australia and the U.S., governments and international development cooperation organisations as well as their sponsors and critics.

Through an analysis of a wide array of DesignBuild projects, the aim of this symposium is to identify obstacles, problems, solutions and best practices, establish DesignBuild-Studios as a study and research model in architectural education in connection with international cooperation projects, and to create a platform that will explore and reinforce the productive synergies of the engaged parties.

The symposium will be accompanied by an exhibition on DesignBuild projects and will give space to present their work to related and interested groups and organisations. The best presentation in the exhibition will be honoured with an award. A publication on the symposium's presentations and discussions will be released in order to secure it's sustainable outcome.
